Youth Yoga Class in Everett

        Monday 4:00pm-5:00pm  - Last Class on Jan 28th 2019!!!

The intention of this class is to assist young people in developing tools that can help them feel more in control of their body’s nervous system and the "fight, flight, or freeze" response that is so common under times of stress.  This increased sense of control allows one to choose how to respond to life’s challenges in a way that improves their sense of well-being, rather than reacting in a way that creates unintended consequences.      

Located at Sound Holistic Health Clinic, room 311, this drop in class:

  • Is open to any youth ages 13-19. Youths under 18 must provide signed permission slip by guardian. Waiver can be downloaded and printed HERE or under "Forms" tab

  • Allows youth to bring a friend, mentor, or trusted adult to attend class with them for FREE

  • Introduces yoga principles of body awareness, breath control, and meditation in an easy to understand and playful manner

  • Is appropriate for individuals of all body types and abilities. No prior yoga experience is required.

  • Helps remove stress from modern life and calm the nervous system through conscious movement and focused attention to the body and breath.

  • Improves flexibility, strength, posture, and coordination

  • Promotes mental clarity, focus, and sense of well-being

  • Is trauma informed. Measures will be taken to help everyone feel comfortable and safe during practice.

  • Is casual! Street clothes are welcome. Mats are available for use.

$5 per youth.  Plus ones are FREE!

Chant Class - First Sunday 4pm-5:30pm  - This class is an opportunity to chant mantras in community and to deepen your experience with the vibrations of Sanskrit.  Chants will vary from a meditative, vedic style to high energy, devotional style known as kirtan.  Class is designed to increase connection to the body, your higher self, and the divine, in whatever form that takes for you. No prior singing experience required. By donation - $5-$10 recommended but not required to attend.

Gentle Yoga - Every Thursday, 12pm-1:15pm - This class is an opportunity to build strength, balance, and mobility while saving your knees and low back from the discomfort of sitting on the floor or doing kneeling postures.  This class will offer options so you can make it as strong or as gentle as you like.  All classes will progress from sitting in chairs, to standing postures, to prone and supine postures on the floor.  All ages and levels are welcome. Class pass or drop in fee required.

All Levels Drop In - Every Thursday, 4:30pm-5:45pm - This class offers options that allow you to tailor your practice to your needs, ranging from strong, moderate, or gentle. Postures flow with the breath in Viniyoga style and provide opportunities to deepen your conversation with Self through mindful awareness and exploration of movement. Class pass or drop in fee required.

Extended Practice - Third Saturday of the month, 2pm-4pm - This class offers an integrated experience of doing breath modification during asana practice, as well as seated pranayama, chant, and meditation practices after movement is complete.  Yoga sutra teachings will also be woven in, giving students a chance to experience 6 of the 8 limbs of yoga in a single practice. Cost $25.
